Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to join our healthcare team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all surgical instruments and medical equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained to meet safety standards. Your expertise will play a vital part in supporting patient care and the overall efficiency of our medical facility.
Monday – Friday with rotating weekends and possible call. One of the day shift positions will require travel to another campus 3 days a week.
Responsibilities
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment according to established protocols.
- Inspect instruments for proper functioning and report any damages or deficiencies.
- Maintain accurate inventory records of sterile supplies and equipment.
- Utilize aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during the handling of sterile items.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments for procedures.
- Adhere to safety and infection control standards in all aspects of work.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with best practices in sterile processing.
Requirements
- Knowledge of sterile processing techniques and procedures.
- Familiarity with anatomy and physiology as it relates to surgical procedures.
- Understanding of medical terminology relevant to the role.
- Experience in inventory management, ensuring adequate stock levels of sterile supplies.
- Proficiency in aseptic technique to maintain a sterile environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
