Employee Classification: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Department: Residential, plus support of other programs
Shift: Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. (some evening, weekend, and holiday hours may be required based on organizational need)
General Purpose
The Driver position is responsible for meeting the transportation and residential program needs of Meta House clients in a safe and efficient manner.
Essential Functions of the Job
- Safe, timely, organized client transport, may include:
- Light conversation and/or listening to client concerns
- Accompanying clients into appointments and waiting with them
- Facilitating the return of discharge paperwork from hospitals and medical visits to the Meta House medical team
- Proper vehicle maintenance, fueling, cleanliness
- Mail and package delivery and distribution
- Car seat inventory, installation, and replacement
- Transportation scheduling and coordination with residential team
- Communication with coworkers via phone, walkie talkie and email
- Train designated Meta House drivers on the safe operation of agency vehicles including multi-passenger vans and training on the safe installation and removal of child car seats
- Perform duties to assist programs during transportation downtime via Driver Downtime Checklist and other duties, as assigned or requested by residential team/leaders
Marginal Functions of the Job
- Shop/medication pick up for clients or other program errands
- Assist clients with moving
- Participate in agency-wide committees and activities
- Cover occasional shifts or tasks to support residential program
- Other duties as may be periodically or permanently assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CBRF certification (provided to candidates if needed)
- Prior experience working in community-based care facilities or social services setting preferred
- Valid WI driver’s license, safe driving record, willing to drive all agency vehicles, and insurable under Meta House’s insurance policy to drive agency vehicles.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- All Meta House staff are required to provide proof of vaccination for MMR, Varicella, and annual flu shot.
- Adherence to a tobacco-free (including vape/e-cigarette) work environment.
Able to:
- Tolerate occasional hot or cold environments.
- Sit or stand for extended periods of time including alternating sitting or standing at will.
- Lift and up to 25 pounds on a regular basis and 50 pounds on occasion.
- Ascend and descend stairs.
- Bend, stoop, twist, squat, and kneel to perform essential functions.
- Reach overhead, and at or below shoulder level.
- Read and enter text or data into a computer or other system.
- Seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hands.
- Touch, pick, punch or otherwise working with fingers.
- Hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds in order to communicate with clients and/or colleagues.
- See clearly at approximately 20 inches or less including use of computers or tablet.
- Visually identify clients and others for reasons including, but not limited to security, presence in the building, and medication dispensing.
