Dining Room Floor Supervisor

Reports to: Dining Room Captain, Director of Dining Services, Clubhouse Manager

Supervises: Servers, Bussers, Food Runners, Hosts, Bartenders

Education and/or Experience

• High School education or equivalent.
• Previous fine dining and/or banquet experience.
• Minimum two years of experience as a head waiter or wait staff supervisor in a fine dining venue.

Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations

• Knowledge of the principles, procedures and equipment used in the storage, care, preparation, cooking, dispensing, and serving of food in large quantities.
• Ability to suggestively sell wine and cocktails.
• Ability to communicate all pertaining dining room duties.
• Good organizational and follow-through skills.
• Ability to demonstrate proper wine service.
• Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.

Job Summary (Essential Functions)

Assists Dining Room Captain in the supervision of dining room staff, maintains order and cleanliness in dining areas and ensures that member satisfaction standards are consistently met following MCC dining room etiquette and service goals. The Floor Supervisor works as a liaison between Captain and dining room front of house staff to ensure member satisfaction and continual excellence in service.

Job Tasks/Duties

• Greets members and guests.
• In the event of Captain’s absence, the Floor Supervisor fulfills the Captain role and coordinates with Director of Dining Services all of the events for the shift.
• Ensures that opening and closing duties are performed by dining room staff and provides Captain with end of shift notes and assists in staff end of shift reports.
• Suggests and describes available appetizers, entrees, desserts, alcoholic beverages, and wines to members and guests.
• Assists Captain in coordinating food service between kitchen and service staff.
• Inspects all linens daily for proper appearance.
• Maintains all silver and glassware counts and provides Captain monthly inventory.
• Resolves member and guest complaints in coordination with Captain.
• Assures that all safety, accident and emergency policies and procedures are in place and consistently followed.
• Assists in all training for Bussers, Food Runners and Servers and assists in maintaining, supervising, and evaluating service staff in training process.
• Follows all training procedures and details outlined by Director of Dining Services and Captain.
• Inspects dining room to ensure proper maintenance, cleanliness, and safety.
• Provides layout and design recommendations to Captain and Director of Dining Services.
• Assures that pre-opening and closing cleaning side work duties are assigned and completed as required by Captain side work assignment file.
• Assists Captain in managing the guest reservation system and a waiting list, if necessary.
• Assists Captain in assigning daily server stations and properly distributes reservations among waiting staff.
• Assists with service of food and beverages in outlets and for special functions when needed.
• Assists with table clearing and re-setting as needed.
• Suggests when additional service supplies and small equipment are needed.
• Assists Captain and Director of Dining Services in enforcing established rules, regulations, and policies.
• Suggestively sells daily specials to all members and guests.
• Assures that local and state laws and the Club’s policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.
• Coordinates any special requests including dietary needs with the Executive Chef.
• Completes other appropriate assignments made by Dining room Captain.

Licenses and Special Requirements

• Food safety certification.
• Alcoholic beverage certification (Responsible Vendor Permit).

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
• Push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
• Continuous repetitive motions.
• Work in hot, humid, and noisy environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 30 per week
