Part Time Middle School Science Teacher

Metairie Park Country Day School seeks an experienced and enthusiastic teacher who enjoys working with young people to fill the position of Part-Time Middle School Science Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. A Bachelor’s degree is required. Teaching experience and an advanced degree is strongly preferred. This is a part-time, 10-month, position that includes a comprehensive benefits package along with all school-year holidays. The Middle School Science Teacher reports to the Middle School Principal.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Teaching two to three sections of middle school science

• Developing and carrying out an age-appropriate, innovative science curricula

• Performing other duties as assigned by the Head of School or a division principal including lunch, recess, and independent work time

• Supporting the Mission of the school and its leadership

• Integrating technology in pedagogy and the classroom Qualifications:

• Experience teaching middle school science (Earth, Life/Biology, and/or Physical Science) and developing related curricula

• Knowledge and interest in utilizing the engineering design process, project-based learning or other innovative and engaging pedagogical approaches

• Demonstrated skills in team-based, collaborative projects and initiatives The goals of the Country Day Science curriculum are to aid students in understanding and making connections to the world around them, as well as gaining intellectual curiosity and scientific literacy by using science practices such as inquiry, design, problem-solving, data analysis, and modeling.
