What are the responsibilities and job description for the Upper School Science Teacher position at Metairie Park Country Day School?
Metairie Park Country Day School is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic educator to teach Biology and Chemistry in the Upper School for the 2025-2026 school year. Our teachers are responsible for creating challenging, engaging, supportive learning environments for all students and implementing mind-brain education strategies to help our students reach their full potential. Prospective applicants should have a Bachelor's degree in Education and/or Science, preferably Biology or Chemistry. Previous teaching experience is preferred, but not required. The full-time, 10-month position includes a comprehensive benefits package along with all school holidays.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Teach up to five sections of Upper School Science
- Understand the demands and challenges of a science curriculum and can implement effective teaching and laboratory experiences that will get students excited about Biology and/or Chemistry
- Ability to differentiate instruction, assessment, and feedback to meet the needs of all students
- Experience with the integration of technology as a tool for engaging students and enhancing instruction
- Serve as an advisor to roughly a dozen students, which requires monitoring student progress in all facets of school life and assisting the student in making goals, plans, and decisions
- Communicate with parents about students’ progress
- Be an open and active participant in regular professional learning
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School or a division principal
- Support the Mission of the School and its leadership
