SUMMARY
Leads, coordinates, and directs engineering programs according to project requirements by using the most effective methods for ensuring safety, quality, and productivity.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages large-scale projects from initial launch through approved PPAP, ensuring deadlines are met and that the cross-functional project team is working efficiently.
- Has total critical project responsibility.
- Provides the department with support in aspects of training and mentorship to further develop the department and individuals therein.
- Able to clearly define and communicate technical path solutions for critical challenges.
- Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, providing input to the project team.
- Creates, maintains, and approves work instructions and process database routings that are used in the manufacturing process.
- Validates drawings and process routings against customer requirements.
- Works with customers as needed on product design to determine most cost-effective solution for the desired product.
- Works with vendors to determine product specification and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
- Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Engineering degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university, and 7 years in a product engineering or manufacturing engineering role, including 2 years in a project leadership role.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram from and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Working conditions are normal for an office setting within a manufacturing environment. Work involves lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds.
- Machinery environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, protective shoes/boots. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
