What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at METAL POWDER PRODUCTS LLC?
The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing assigned monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes. This position also works closely with the Controller to ensure timely and accurate monthly financial reporting. Ideal candidates should have a strong work ethic, and also understand and / or be willing to learn the broader accounting functions of the organization across all areas. It requires a motivated, self-starting individual with strong computer skills, knowledge of accounting practices and systems, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Reports to : Corporate Controller
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
MEASURES OF SUCCESS
Completing the month end close process efficiently and accurately
Implementation, improvement, and enforcement of internal controls
Assisting in the development of financial statements and reports
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
denotes an essential function of the job
Prepare journal entries and monthly account reconciliations
Implementation, improvement, and enforcement of month end procedures including internal controls
Review and explain variances to budget / forecast and to previous reporting periods
Assistance with monthly and year-end closing processes and annual financial statement audits.
Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or upper management.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is required
2 to 5 years of accounting experience is required
Public accounting experience is preferred
Manufacturing experience is preferred
Proven track record for improving process efficiencies and solving problems
Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, general ledger, and financial reporting systems is required
Basic Excel proficiency required. Intermediate to advanced Excel proficiency is preferred
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word / Office Suite is required
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms.
Non-regular work hours may be required.
The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds.
This position requires working in an office environment.
