The company is growing and seeking a key individual to expand the team as a Quality Control Technician.
Job Description:
- Read and interpret blueprints.
- Identify raw material defects.
- Verify conformance of raw material to job material specifications.
- Monitor fabrication operations to ensure the quality meets production standards.
- Verify conformance of part dimensions to blueprint using verified measuring instruments.
- Inspect and test fabricated parts.
- Accept or reject the final parts.
- Recommend adjustments to fabricated parts to meet or improve performance.
- Accept or reject outsourced parts.
- Accurate execution of all quality reports.
- Adhere to AISC requirements by having complete knowledge of our Quality Manual and Procedures.
- Knowledge of state specific project standards and specifications and intimate knowledge of AWS codes.
- Ensure conformance to applicable welding codes.
- Review all shop drawings for accuracy of weld callouts.
- Use of proper verified welding gauges.
- Verify all dimensions during fit up.
- Visual inspection of all welded products (fit up, work in process and finished goods final).
- Preferred NDT (VT, MT, PT and UT).
- Accept or reject coatings on final product.
Qualifications:
- CWI - strongly preferred
- Welding experience - strongly preferred
- NDT level II certifications (at least 2 of VT, MT, PT, and UT). Preferred, but not required.
- Two (2) years of relevant QC experience and required hours
- Pass a vision and color perception exam.
- High School diploma, GED or equitant experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- U.S. citizen.
- Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds to inspect weldments.
- Knowledge of defects and discontinuities per welding codes.
- Print reading experience.
- Able to use measuring tools (Tape, Caliper, etc.).
- Basic math skills, including fractions or decimals.
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate effectively with shop floor and management.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
