What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAD Drafter/ CNC Programmer position at Metal Solutions, Inc.?

We are currently looking for a full time 1st shift Programmer. In this role, you will prepare parts for cutting process in a manner that maximizes efficiency of materials and process. You will be expected to communicate critical assumptions used in programming the parts to other departments in order to increase overall effectiveness of producing the part.
Hours are Monday - Friday 7am - 3:30pm, occasional Saturday's if available
Programmer Responsibilities and Duties:
- Create and update drawings with necessary information to properly manufacture parts
- Develops manufacturing processes based on customer requirements using CAD/CAM
- Assists punch/laser and brake operators with issues relating to the cutting and bending process.
- Is aware of and follows safety protocol and procedures within production facility. Proactively reports safety issues noted to appropriate supervisors .
- Ability to solve problems that are frequent and unique. May need to use creativity and judgement due to frequently changing conditions.
- Coordinates with Engineering Manager on potential production issues
- Works with customer’s engineers to resolve design issues and acquire necessary information vital to manufacturability of parts.
- Collaborates with Estimators to determine the best method of manufacturing processes based on customer requirements.
- Works with customer’s engineers to identify and implement cost cutting solutions that do not change the fit, form or function of the part.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Minimum of 2 Year Engineering degree or a minimum of 3 years related Manufacturing experience
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints / shop drawings
- Team oriented but a self-starter
- Problem solving and multi-tasking is a must
- Basic knowledge of drafting, design and CNC Experience is a plus
Ability or Knowledge of using the following
- TruTops Boost,VPSS Blank Solidworks, Spaceclaim, Autocad, Excel, Outlook, Word
- Ability to use measuring tools such as Calipers, Tape measure, Protractor, Square
- Sheet metal experience is a plus.
- Good oral and written communication skills is necessary
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
