POSITION OVERVIEW
The Chemical Maintenance Operator is responsible for ensuring the proper handling, monitoring, and maintenance of chemical solutions used in plating processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitors and maintains the concentration, temperature, and pH levels of the chemical solutions used in plating processes to ensure optimal performance and quality of plated parts
- Prepare chemical solutions according to specific formulations and guidelines
- Modifies solutions, pumps them out, and conducts carbon treatment on plating solutions as needed
- Handle and store chemicals safely, following standard operating procedure, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements
- Perform routine tank maintenance such as changing tank filters, cleaning tanks and anode bags, new make ups, chemical additions, etc.
- Operates a forklift to transport chemicals and equipment
- Maintain accurate records of chemical inventory, chemical usage, solution concentrations, maintenance, and disposal activities
- Reports any unsafe practices, health hazard working conditions, contaminated or abnormal process solution appearance, equipment malfunctions, etc.
- Responds to chemical spills, leaks, and other emergencies
- Performs housekeeping and follows safety regulations
- Works as an active team member by participating in problem solving, team building, and all other team activities to improve the processes, productivity, quality, etc. of the department
- Assists other team members as required
- Other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
- Computer Skills: Basic computer entry knowledge
- Reading Comprehension: Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, job travelers, and communications
- Writing Skills: Ability to write English of a level required for Company shop documents and computer software entry
- Mathematical Skills: Basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
- Equipment: Plating tanks, hoists, forklifts, pumps, filters, air pumps, electric pumps, hand pumps, rinse containers
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education: High school diploma or GED
Experience:
- Required: 2 years’ experience, or equivalent skills and knowledge in basic chemical operations
- Preferred: 3 years’ experience, or equivalent skills and knowledge in plating operations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Physical Requirements: This position requires the employee to stand and walk frequently; lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds; finger and wrist dexterity required.
Required to wear PPE (i.e. face, foot, eye, hand, and/or hearing protection)
Work Environment: While performing duties of the job, the employee will work in a metal finishing environment. The employee will be exposed to fumes and vapors, noise, chemicals, cold, heat, humidity, and dust.
ITAR REQUIREMENT
This position requires access to United States Export Controlled information.
