SUMMARY Maintains quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products; recording quality results.
- Measure and visually inspect parts to verify conformance to customer requirements.
- Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications.
- Approves in-process production by confirming specifications.
- Approves finished products by confirming specifications.
- Contributes to root cause investigations related to quality issues.
- Initiate non-conformance reports.
- Communicates required adjustments to the production supervisor.
- Documents inspection results by completing associated reports and logs.
- Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions, verifying calibration and notifying supervisor of needed repairs.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
- Assists with the implementation, interpretation, and maintenance of the ISO9001 quality assurance standards.
- Participates in internal audits as necessary.
- All other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Analyzing Information, Documentation Skills, Promoting Process Improvement, Managing Processes, Manufacturing Methods and Procedures, Supports Innovation.
- Ability to read blueprints, tape measures, calipers, and micrometers required.
- Familiar with interpreting Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerance preferred.
- Familiar with Virtek Laser CMM.
- Three years of quality inspection or supervision in a manufacturing environment required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate degree or equivalent from two year college or technical school and two years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Lead Auditor Certification desired.
TRAVEL
As needed to facilities within the Southeast region.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk, occasionally stoop, kneel and/or climb; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The associate must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds independently and maneuver up to 200 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Possible exposure is frequent to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles - eye protection is required, and fumes, machine vibration, and noisy conditions, high temperatures, and occasional to a restricted space work area. All KEEL locations are tobacco free where appropriate.
