What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Operator (Ferrous) position at Metalico?
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safe Handling and/or moving material.
- Knowledge of material requirements; material shipping specifications; size threshold; weight thresholds.
- Effective communication with all site personnel.
- Maintain daily logs of equipment usage, maintenance, etc.
- Daily maintenance of equipment.
- Identify, report, correct and/or prevent hazards.
- Perform tasks maintaining all health, safety and environmental rules and ensure work is completed in a safe and responsible manner.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit for long periods.
- Handle and manipulate objects on a repetitive basis.
- Ability to see well and distinguish between back up alarms, voices, and typical sounds.
- Ensure others around you are aware of your whereabouts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School degree or equivalent preferred.
- Able to operate excavators, loaders, etc.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs. and stand for long periods of time.
- Knowledge of the various ferrous and non-ferrous metals a plus.
- Quick learner who can follow directions.
- Good communication skills.
- Team player.
- Organized, consistent, and good at multitasking.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to work.
- Able to pass a pre-employment check.
