POSITION: Equipment Operator
LOCATION: 127 Fillmore Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14210
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time – 40 hours/week
WORK SCHEDULE:
During the following hours of operation:
Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Saturday as needed 8:00 am – 12:00 pm
Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Saturday as needed 8:00 am – 12:00 pm
JOB OVERVIEW:
Scrap metal yard located in Buffalo, NY seeks an Equipment Operator to handle day-to-day tasks in the yard. These responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Safe Handling and/or moving material
- Knowledge of the Excavator/Magnet/Grapple loading requirements; material shipping specifications; weight thresholds
- Effective communication with all site personnel
- Maintain daily logs of equipment usage, maintenance, etc.
- Daily maintenance of equipment
- Identify, report, correct and/or prevent hazards
- Perform tasks maintaining all health, safety and environmental rules and ensure work is completed in a safe and responsible manner
- Ability to sit for long periods
- Handle and manipulate objects on a repetitive basis
- Work outside in the elements regardless of the season
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Heavy equipment certification a plus
- 2 plus years of heavy equipment operation experience
- Organizational skills, able to multi-task
- Self-motivated, ability to work independently
- Team player, able to get along with a diverse group
