What are the responsibilities and job description for the Metal Inspector/Greeter position at Metalico?
- Greet the Peddler with courtesy.
- Excellent customer service experience.
- Inspect scrap load in order to identify prohibited items, assign correct commodity codes, and assign deductions according to best practice.
- Inspect customer materials for liquids, non-metallic, and other non-acceptable materials. (ie. Propane tanks, PCBs, and batteries)
- Identity and record inspection data to include the weight, grade, content, and quantity of scrap metal.
- Ensure customers are dropping the correct material incorrect designated areas.
- Direct peddler to drop-off location(s).
- Communicate via 2-way radio with Weigh Master and yard personnel.
- Direct peddler through outbound scale, and instruct on payout procedure.
- Physically assist customers with the unloading of their material.
- High school diploma
- Minimum 1-3 years experience in scrap metal recycling preferable.
- Experience in general labor in heavy manufacturing environments
- Able to operate skid steers, forklifts, loaders a plus
- People skills, strong belief in customer service, team player.
- Work out in the elements throughout the year, able to lift 60 pounds.
- Highly active work environment which requires being on your feet all day.
