POSITION SUMMARY:


The Environment Health & Safety Manager is responsible for the implementation and management of environmental, health, and safety programs, as well as, developing, training, and recommending specific environmental health and safety-related programs and activities, while following company and government regulations and guidelines.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


1.     Implementation, administration, and enforcement of plant-wide environmental, health, and safety programs.

2.     Oversee the wastewater treatment facility. 

3.     Ensure proper licenses, certifications, and permits are obtained and maintained.

4.     Complete and maintain regulatory compliance documentation as requested by customers

5.     Keep up with new EHS developments by attending courses and maintaining contact with regulatory agencies.

6.     Assist, train, and educate plant management and employees to develop, maintain, and ensure cooperation and understanding of good environmental, health, and safety practices.

7.     Be present in the plant monitoring and addressing safety activities/concerns.

8.     Develop a strong and reputable relationship with all employees.

9.     Evaluate usage and storage of chemicals, inks and solvents.

10. Perform or coordinate tests for air quality, water quality, noise and other pollutants as required.

11. All other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Chemistry or related field preferred.

·        At least four years of work experience in Environmental, Health & Safety or similar field preferred.

·        Ability to work with OSHA, DNR, EPA and other regulatory agencies

  • Ability to address multiple, complex projects.
  • Needs to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills. This position will deal with internal and external customers at a variety of levels.
  • Need to be able to identify EHS problems, secure relevant information, identify possible causes, and suggest possible solutions; will need to have the ability to develop new and unique approaches to existing or traditional situations.
  • Knowledge of company policies and government regulations pertaining to EHS issues.
  • Knowledge of the plant processes, equipment, positions, and generally accepted industrial practices.

·        Ability to make timely and effective decisions.

·        Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and various environmental software programs


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The physical demands and work environment described below are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

·        This position is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

·        Must be able to lift 50 lbs. occasionally.

·        Must be able to keep a calm disposition under stress

·        Generally works in an office setting but will be required to spend time each day inside a plant environment which will expose this position to moving mechanical parts, vehicular traffic, ink and chemical exposure and loud noise levels.
