Purpose and Scope
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for continuously advancing the St. Clair Plant maintenance and reliability process with respect to safety, quality, and productivity by analyzing the components of the various processes and developing plans for maintaining, improving, and implementing those plans at the lowest cost possible.
Responsibilities
- Manage and lead all maintenance and reliability staff and their associated activities for effective asset management.
- Develop and drive a plant-level maintenance strategy, direction, technical vision, and technical expertise for all direct reports and other plant associates.
- Develop and maintain systems to effectively schedule and maximize maintenance and reliability.
- Ensure proactive maintenance practices are effective and efficient in preventing breakdowns and maintaining quality control to maximize profits. Coordinate with operations to execute efficiently.
- Continually evaluate, establish, and improve maintenance and reliability methods and equipment.
- Establish data-driven efforts to minimize downtime and ensure machine startups and shutdowns are efficient. Hold maintenance staff accountable for driving maintenance delays to low levels.
- Plan for future capital expenditures and collaborate with plant and corporate engineering teams on project execution to deliver on time and on budget.
- Demonstrate a true 'shop floor presence.' Work closely with line operators to understand the current state of the equipment.
- Create an environment where the associates recognize the importance of following safe work practices and maintaining a safe work environment. Monitor practices and procedures to achieve OSHA recordable, lost time, and environmental goals.
- Create and foster an environment that encourages continuous improvement ideas and input from all associates.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, evaluation, and development of each associate. Ensure necessary work instructions, troubleshooting, training manuals, etc. are available, effective, and utilized while also using on-the-job training to further enhance abilities.
- Delegated responsibilities from St. Clair’s Plant Manager when required.
Technical / Functional Skills
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent with a minimum of 17 years experience in a manufacturing setting plus two years experience in Project Management or as a maintenance supervisor,
Preferred Qualifications
Associate Degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field with a minimum of 14 years experience in a manufacturing setting plus two years experience in Project Management or as a maintenance supervisor
Bachelor’s degree Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field with a minimum of 12 years of experience in a manufacturing setting plus two years experience in Project Management or as a maintenance supervision
Licenses or Certifications
Preferred CMRP Certification
