Metals USA – Gregor Technologies Division is seeking BRAKE PRESS OPERATORS in Torrington, CT. Metals USA is a solid, growth oriented aluminum/stainless steel distribution center servicing the defense, aerospace and fabrication industries.
Responsibilities:
- Plans machining by studying & understanding work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, drawings, reference planes, locations on surfaces, and machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Prepares and operates Brake Press with proper program, tools and material for the specified part.
- Prepares and loads raw materials and parts onto the machines.
- Prepares a test run to check if machine produces parts according to specifications; verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run and sample work pieces.
- Monitors the machines as they execute the tasks and makes any necessary adjustments to determine if the process was completed properly.
- Completes production paperwork, follows shop systems/procedures and follows inspections procedures daily.
- Inspects and measures finished products and compares to the requirements to determine if the process was completed properly.
- Performs daily maintenance and inspection of equipment to ensure functionality.
Requirements:
- Two-year technical degree and/or apprenticeship
- National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) certificate is a plus
- Proven experience as a Brake Press Operator
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, documents and blueprints.
- Ability to read measuring instruments such as measuring tapes, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators and gauges
- Computer Literacy with understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM
