Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Production Operator to join our team at Metals USA. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a combination of different machines to process work by cutting, burning, sawing, blasting, shearing, punching, grinding, bending, or pressing.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Positions work pieces for processing using gauges, calipers, squares, or rulers for measurement.
- Operates various machines, including overhead cranes, to handle materials and products.
- Determines processing specifications by reviewing blueprints, work orders, tooling instructions, or other written specifications.
- Installs and aligns specified punches, cutting blades, or other fixtures in machine beds.
- Adjusts controls to set cutting speed, depth, and feed rates, and diagnoses problems and makes necessary adjustments.
- Performs quality control inspections on finished products, ensuring they meet ISO-certified standards.
- Cookies material handling of all inventories to be processed, including operation of overhead cranes.
- Performs limited preventative maintenance tasks, such as lubrication, cleaning, and changing of parts.
- May train less experienced workers and perform as lead in the absence of a group leader.
- May mark identification on material/work pieces before processing.
