The human resource generalist is responsible for performing HR related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior management in supporting the goals and objectives of the organization. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: Human Resources, Payroll and Benefits Administration, Safety, and other miscellaneous HR functions.
HUMAN RESOURCES
Administrates day to day operations of Human Resources Department, including Leave of absences, workers compensation, employee records, compliance audits, and human resources programs; recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed; coordinates the following human resources activities: issues birthday, anniversary, funeral cards, coordinates service award program, orders meals for special occasions, coordinates and creates schedule with 401k advisor, manages company apartment; participates in human resources staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars as required; assists in coordination of employee reviews and review process and procedures, assists in construction and evaluation of reports, decision-making process, and results of department in relation to established goals; manages employee termination process including collecting resignation letters, exit interviews, collecting company assets, information to unemployment, address claims as needed, provide employment verification and references; maintains employee records in compliance with state and federal requirements.
PAYROLL & BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION
Coordinates with Accounting Department to ensure timekeeping is ready for weekly processing; responsible for processing of weekly (non-exempt) and semi-monthly (exempt) payroll, the relationship with the payroll provider, staffing agencies and all information provided to them, the proper handling of child support, tax levy and garnishments, address changes, verification of tax compliance, and issuance of accurate W-2’s; collects payroll data from employees and answers inquiries regarding payroll; maintains well-documented and organized payroll records; performs audit and compliance functions as requested on items such as audit reports verification, commission reports and payroll information; acts as back-up conducting new hire and open enrollment meetings with employees; ensure timely and accurate entries to Paycom/HRIS database.
SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL
Enters accident investigation and employee information into insurance companies’ worker’s compensation system; compile monthly, quarterly, yearly safety performance data of WI Investcast Division and post to established computer system; plans, schedules Monthly Safety Committee Meetings; constructs and distributes STOP Audit to Committee members; Assists in the administration of all Leave of Absence programs and processes including Transitional Work Program and Accommodations Process; coordinates hazardous waste pick-up with supervisors.
Associates or Bachelor’s degree with Human Resources or Business Management, preferred; 2-5 years of experience as HR Generalist and/or experience preferably in a manufacturing environment; understanding of general human resources policies and procedures; knowledge of Federal, State and Local employment, wage and hour laws; experience using Paycom; strong Microsoft Office skills, with proficiency in Excel including advanced formula functions; communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner; maintain confidentiality of information, make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure; prioritize and organize effectively; communicate with all levels of management and company personnel.
