Description : Position Overview

The Equipment Operator safely and efficiently moves freight, stock or other materials throughout the yard to designated areas.

Duties and Responsibilities

Identify and transport requested materials to and from various locations by forklift, skid steer or loader in a safe and timely manner
Complete and maintain necessary paperwork pertinent to the assigned department
Maintain a clean and organized working environment
Perform daily preventative maintenance on mobile equipment, as required
Follow dress code and ensure proper PPE is worn at all times
Make decisions, solve problems, and handle high stress situations calmly and safely

Requirements :

Job Requirements / Skills

Knowledge of Non-Ferrous and Ferrous metals

Forklift experience required

Computer experience preferred

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Problem solving skills

Education / Experience

High school diploma or GED preferred

Physical Requirements

Walk, sit, stand, stoop for long periods of time

Ability to climb in / on mobile equipment

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis

Exposure to physical operations in scrap recycling facilities, including walking / climbing in active industrial yards with uneven surfaces in inclement weather
