Project Management - Sr. Project Manager

Sr. Project Manager Bilingual (English/Japanese)

Working Hours: 40 hrs/week, EST

Overview
The Sr. Project Manager will oversee the planning and implementation of the HOMIS application, working closely with technical teams in JRIA, business departments in SMBC, and Tokyo application development/support teams. This role also includes ongoing production support and application maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage delivery of key projects for Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) Tokyo Head Office, coordinating with teams in NA/EMEA regions.

• Analyze system requirements and create design documents for ETL developers based in NY/NJ.

• Work with internal/external teams (ETL, Interface, and production support) to manage small-to-mid-sized projects, define technical requirements, track schedules, and obtain budget approval.

• Resolve production issues by collaborating with business users, developers, and operators, ensuring quick resolution.

• Conduct regression tests and implement change management according to SMBC's SDLC process.

• Lead data modeling activities and collaborate with data analysts, architects, and ETL/BI developers to ensure consistent database designs aligned with the bank s data structure.

Requirements

• Business-level fluency in Japanese and English (verbal and written).

• Hands-on experience with relational databases (RDBMS) and enterprise application integration.

• Strong understanding of high-level database architectures and ability to support data modeling.

• Back-office business analysis/design experience (payment, settlement, cash flow, accounting, or reconciliation) is a plus.

• Basic knowledge of financial products (Loan, Deposit, or Trade Finance) is a plus.

• Experience with Linux/UNIX-based operating systems is a plus.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment.

• Occasional weekend or late-night support as required.
