What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavior Interventionist position at Metcalf Elementary School?
Metcalf Elementary is seeking a Behavior Interventionist. A Metcalf Behavior Interventionist provides direct one-on-one behavioral interventions to teach communication, social, and daily living skills while reducing problematic behaviors in the school setting. Typical duties include management of student behavior and mental health including, but not limited to: educationally related mental health services; functional analysis assessment and data collection, positive behavior intervention and support plans, and evidence-based practices.
Minimum Qualifications are to have one of the following:
*Board Certified Behavior Analyst
*Registered Behavior Therapist
*Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Applied Behavioral Science (or similar degree)
*Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
Skills and Responsibilities:
- Conduct functional behavioral assessments
- Develop individual behavior plans with input from teachers and parents
- Collect, maintain, and monitor behavioral data
- Provide direct care for individuals and groups of students
- Provide teachers with coaching and support
- Provide parents with communication, information, and support
- Teach new skills, address problematic behaviors, and use reinforcement to encourage progress
- Work on individual student goals pertaining to communication, social situations, coping, self-help, academics, and daily living skills
- Enable students to navigate daily classroom routines and peer interactions
- Other duties as assigned
