Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in estimating or sales within the construction industry.
- Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in using estimating and pricing systems, as well as Microsoft software applications (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
- Critical thinking and strong analytical skills for project estimating.
- Attention to detail and negotiation skills.
- Self-motivated with excellent time management skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Ability to read and interpret technical and legal documents.
- Job Responsibilities:
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work for projects.
- Prepare conceptual, hard bid, and final estimating input on complex projects.
- Utilize historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, and productivity analysis reports for accurate unit and man-hour figures.
- Maintain all working documents and data to support estimate figures.
- Assist operations during the preparation of inquiries and final evaluation of submitted bids.
- Negotiate and finalize project pricing estimates and review, revise, and sign contracts for jobs awarded.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Flag extraordinary contract scope items for safety and field departments.
- Provide pricing for change orders and extra work.
- Review completed job profitability.
- Sell project scopes at job costing in the first year.
