Role Overview :
This position leads Metergy's Engineering team and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) efforts. The Engineering team drives improvement initiatives to enhance Metergy's project and business delivery, provides technical expertise to our North American field installations & operations teams, and guides go-to-market plans for our products and services. Metergy's products and services contribute to our clients' decarbonization efforts across their real estate portfolios.
The Director of ESG & Engineering reports to the SVP of Field Operations and has a dotted line responsibility to the President & CEO as it pertains to ESG efforts. This role is pivotal in delivering Metergy's mission to provide building owners and occupants with accurate and reliable utility consumption data through market-leading expertise in turnkey submetering and billing, while fostering a workplace with inspired team empowered to do more good.
This leadership role will require the individual to work in our Markham office 3 days a week and the willingness to travel to our offices in Canada and the US on occasion.
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering-based plans and initiatives that will advance our submetering products and services.
- Maintains a well-integrated and high-performing team. Manages overall team performance and provides the coaching and support needed to drive career and responsibility growth.
- Provide oversight for engineering designs and documentation for submetering installations in new developments / projects, including project-based technical support, design drawings, and thermal rate management.
- Contribute to business growth opportunities; the integration of new products & services into the business or adapting / evolving existing product & services for new region and market segments.
- Help drive cultural change in the organization by advocating for continuous improvement and integrating technology, automation, and AI into the business. Create the tools to automate and / or standardize activities without compromising quality.
- Lead ESG efforts. This includes - strategies and plans to improve ESG performance, coordinate annual ESG reporting, and identify / implement opportunities to enhance our sustainability value proposition for clients.
- Own and maintain Metergy's Quality Management System (QMS) and Accredited Service Provider (ASP) status with Measurement Canada (meter inspection services - monitoring, documentation, and reporting for QMS performance).
- Be a trusted resource / sounding board to individuals and teams for the most challenging projects and cross-disciplinary problems
- Proactively identify, assess, and deliver new metering or communication technologies for business use and offer guidance on the go-to-market product lineup for all markets we serve.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure proper prioritization and resource allocation for all the commitments the team takes on.
- Be active in the industry to build on Metergy's market reputation as a technical leader for our submetering products and services (presentations, technical committees / panels, articles etc.)
- Determine ways to capture / share knowledge efficiently across the team. Includes successes and lessons learned on past projects. Deliver targeted education, coaching and resources to address technical knowledge and skills gaps.
- Develop means to evaluate the technical capabilities of talent needed to make accurate hiring decisions.
- Delivers relevant insights, information and solutions to the benefit of key clients and internal teams.
- Ensure that production processes meet all regulatory requirements and follow industry best practices.
