The Role
Metergy is transforming submetering, billing, and utility management across North America. Our company is experiencing exciting growth in Canada and the US and are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to help lead us through our next phase of growth.
This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in shaping Metergy's legal and business strategy. As Senior Legal Counsel, you will work closely with all levels of the organization and have direct exposure to senior leadership. Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Legal and Business Partner : Collaborate with business units and corporate functions to provide actionable legal and operational guidance that drives company growth and aligns with strategic priorities.
- Contract Management : Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of agreements, including sales, supplier, contractor, consultant, and confidentiality agreements.
- Policy Development : Shape and implement corporate policies and processes to ensure compliance with evolving legal and regulatory requirements.
- Operational Excellence : Refine and maintain efficient legal processes, develop standard templates, and ensure consistent delivery of legal services.
- Regulatory Expertise : Provide counsel on regulatory compliance and corporate law matters relevant to the submetering and utility management industries while also managing intellectual property, privacy compliance, and government relations matters.
- Team Leadership : Contribute to fostering a high-performing legal team by mentoring junior team members and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Transactional Expertise : Support mergers and acquisitions, corporate financing, and regulatory initiatives.
- Corporate Governance : Advise on governance matters, including supporting board-related activities and ensuring compliance with corporate policies.
- Ad Hoc Projects : Tackle a variety of legal matters and projects as needed to support the dynamic and evolving needs of the business.
