Metglas, Inc., located in Conway, SC, is a world leading producer of Amorphous Metal Ribbon. Since our company began in the 1970’s, Metglas, Inc. (then Allied Signal located in Morristown, NJ) pioneered the development and production of amorphous metal, a unique alloy that exhibits a structure in which the metal atoms occur in a random pattern. The key to Metglas Inc.’s proprietary manufacturing process is the rapid-solidification of molten alloy at a rate of approximately one million degrees Celsius per second.
We are currently looking for a full-time experienced manufacturing Plant Manager for our busy 24/7 manufacturing plant.
Job Duties:
- Takes a leadership role to maintain a World Class Safety program and Safety Performance.
- Leads a team of department and other managers.
- Hands-on manager.
- Plant floor time most of time (70% or so).
- Develops all Capital and Special Projects budgets to achieve a favorable ROI.
- Directs all Metglas capital projects and ensures a quality and timely completion and installation timeline, as well as achieving on budgets results.
- Directs and coordinates in cooperation with the Director of R&D and Operations all New R&D, New Products Launches, and Trials.
- Responsible for the completion and set up of operational standards to ensure the safe, cost effective, and reliable projects are implemented before hand off to operations.
- Directs all Major expansion projects and special projects as requested by the President & COO.
- International liaison with all international partners for operations, facilities and maintenance.
- Liaison for all operational, projects and new product development in operations with international partners. In cooperation with Director of R&D on New Product Development.
- Partner for settings goals and tracks continuous improvement of operations and equipment reliability to achieve plant and business objectives.
- Develops and manages Metglas Operational and Facilities budget to achieve productivity goals.
- Ensures compliance to all local, state, federal, and corporate rules, regulations, codes, and laws.
- Interfaces with Engineering to ensure that safe, cost effective, and reliable projects are implemented.
- Identities, recognizes and rewards personnel for outstanding achievements.
- Maintains integrity of all drawings, specifications, programs, compliance/inspection records, and other documentation.
- Supports all ISO system requirements.
- Creates and conducts 30, 60, 90, and annual performance reviews on direct reports.
- Available if and as needed 24/7.
- Reports to President/COO
Attributes/Skills Required/Sought:
- Excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills.
- Mid to advanced technical background.
- Advanced PowerPoint and Excel user.
- Able to quickly create attractive PowerPoint presentations then present to meeting group attendees, all employees, and/or Corporate Executives as/when needed.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and proper grammatical & spelling in writing.
- Able to write new operations policies and ISODOCS.
- Ability to hold others and direct reports accountable.
- Strong motivator and influence of people.
- Goal oriented team player.
Experience/Education Required/Sought:
- BS in technical field
- Product/Process development.
- 8-10 years proven manufacturing plant operation leadership of multi-site locations.
- Professional in PowerPoint presentation creation and presentation experience to various groups of people.
- International business experience a plus.
- Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification required.
- LEAN experience, with ability to clearly and specifically explain proven experience.
- Due to ITAR requirements, employees must be US Citizens or US Lawful Permanent Residents.
- Able to run plant daily.
- Able to run other plants in the future if/as needed through company growth.
