Method Child Development Center supports a diverse community of families by focusing on each child’s social, educational, and emotional needs within a safe, nurturing, and affordable environment. Method is a nonprofit childcare center that is operated through a volunteer Board of Directors. The children are the top priority for the teachers and the Board of Directors.

Prospective families wishing to enroll their children at the center are welcome to make an appointment to tour the center.

Early Education Child Care Teacher

Job Description

The Early Education Child Care Teacher will be responsible for monitoring and teaching the age 6 week – 12-year-old children in our program, developing a curriculum that the children will respond to positively and partnering with our team to enhance the learning environment at our school. If you love working with kids and have previous experience in an early learning environment

Responsibilities

● Develop and maintain a constructive and ongoing rapport with children and parents

● Create activities that are fun and educational for the children

● Collaborate with other teachers to ensure that the school fosters an environment that is inviting and nurturing for every child

● Deliver reports on potential concerns about students as to management as needed

● Manage day-to-day classroom activities, including structured lessons, free play, bathroom breaks, lunch time and rest time for students

● Assist in ensuring compliance with all state and federal Day Care

Center.

● Know and implement emergency procedures in appropriate situations.

● Meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child

● Encourage assistants to contribute to curriculum planning

● Prepare monthly plan charts

● Complete bi-annual assessment of children's development

● Report progress of children to parents in bi-annual reports and through parent-teacher conferences

● Maintain daily open communication with parents

● Keep accident reports

● Maintain anecdotal records

● Maintain confidentiality

● Report any suspect abuse to supervisor

● Arrange a classroom environment in accordance to program goals and philosophy

● Maintain a safe and healthy environment

● Inspect and replace damaged or lost materials

● Attend Inservice and staff meetings

● Supervise assistants, aides and volunteers in the classroom

● Keep all appropriate records such as records, attendance and time sheets.

● Meet all applicable licensing regulations

● Assist staff with both long- and short-range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy.

Qualifications:

● Must be 18 years of age

● Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required

● EEC Certified preferred

● 2 years’ experience working with children in a classroom setting

● Caring and nurturing attitude towards children

● Excellent verbal and written communication skills

● Familiarity with and ability to comply with federal and state child abuse reporting laws.

● A valid drivers’ license, vehicle, and insurance.

● Must be able to make quick decisions.

● Must be able to stand 75% of the day.

● Must be able to make quick decisions. creative, and have strong planning skills

Benefits:

● 10-11 Paid Holidays

● Up to $320 Healthcare Reimbursement Stipend

Compensation:

● $12-20/hour depending on experience

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $12.00 - $20.00 per hour

  • Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Child Development Associate Certification (Required)
