Barista/Cafe Shift Lead – The Quoin Hotel & Restaurant Wilmington, DE
Job Overview:
As the Barista/Cafe Shift Lead at The Quoin Hotel & Restaurant, you will oversee daily operations and lead the café team, including cashiers and baristas, to provide exceptional service. You will ensure guests are attended to promptly and maintain the highest standards of hospitality. This role requires a blend of leadership and hands-on service, contributing to the success of both the hotel and café operations. Candidates must be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team to meet the needs of the business.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:
- Act with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promotes the culture of The Quoin Hotel & Restaurant.
- Oversee daily operations during scheduled shifts, organizing opening and closing duties.
- Communicate with the management team regarding operations and guest issues to maintain smooth service.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, health codes, and sanitation guidelines, conducting regular inspections and implementing corrective actions.
- Prepare and serve quality beverages and food, such as specialty coffee drinks, sandwiches, and baked goods.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels of café and market supplies, ensuring timely replenishment.
- Deliver legendary customer service by acting with a “customer-first” attitude and building meaningful connections with guests.
- Follow all cash management policies and ensure proper cash handling practices across shifts.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality to meet the demands of the business.
- Create and update product displays to attract customers and educate them on offerings.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently, taking initiative to manage tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory role in food service operations, preferably in a high-volume coffee shop or café.
- Morning/Weekend Availablility
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
- Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to interact professionally with guests, colleagues, and vendors.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage tasks proactively without direct supervision.
- Certification in food safety and sanitation (e.g., ServSafe) preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to stand, walk, push, bend, stoop, squat, and reach for extended periods, typically 8-10 hours per day.
- Ability to lift, carry, or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Fast-paced environment requiring agility to navigate various areas efficiently.
