Job Responsibilities
As a Preoperative Nurse, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Preparing patient care areas and ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are available
- Conducting comprehensive physical and psychological assessments, reviewing patient history and diagnostic tests
- Administering pre-operative medications and intravenous therapy as prescribed
- Monitoring patients until transferred to the OR
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- An Associate Degree in Nursing or higher degree in Nursing
- At least 1 year of nursing experience in a clinical setting, preferably in PACU, ICU, or Surgery
- An active RN license as required by the state of employment
- BCLS Certification upon employment (online certification not accepted)
- ACLS required within 30 days of hire
- PALS if required by the facility within 30 days of hire
