About the Job:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as an Alternate Teaching Parent. In this role, you will be responsible for providing care and support to youth in our home-based program.
Job Summary:
The Alternate Teaching Parent will assist the Teaching Parents in providing a normalized home environment that encourages close family relationships among the youth. This includes assisting with daily living skills, academic assistance, and provision of counseling and guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily living skills, including yard care, interior cleaning, vehicle cleaning and maintenance
- Provide academic assistance to youth and work closely with the public-school system
- Assist with development of a normalized home environment that encourages close family relationships among the youth
- Provide counseling, concern, direction, assistance, and support to youth
- Work closely with the youth's parents, teachers, social workers, and significant others to ensure effective program implementation
- Assist with implementation of individualized plans of care for each youth
- Take advantage of in-service training and professional growth opportunities
- Perform related duties as requested by the Teaching Parents or Program Consultant
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in human services or education field preferred, but high school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience working with children or other population with special needs preferred
- Possess or able to obtain a valid Arkansas Driver's License and is insurable to operate company vehicles
- Physically capable of restraining youth if said youth are a danger to themselves or others
- Physically capable of performing various maintenance tasks
