Role Overview
The Alternate Teaching Parent plays a critical role in supporting the well-being and success of youth in a home-based setting. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with Teaching Parents and other professionals to provide a comprehensive program of care that addresses the physical, emotional, and educational needs of the youth.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist Teaching Parents in developing and implementing individualized plans of care for each youth, in collaboration with relevant professionals.
- Provide direct care and supervision to youth, including assistance with daily living tasks, transportation, and activities.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as trauma-informed care, crisis management, and cultural competence.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of youth progress, including medical records, behavioral notes, and incident reports.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of a safe and supportive living environment that promotes healthy relationships and behaviors among youth.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in human services or education preferred, but high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with children or other populations with special needs is highly desirable.
- Ability to take advantage of extensive training and apply it to the implementation of a comprehensive program of care for children.
- Possess or able to obtain a valid Arkansas Driver's License and be insurable to operate company vehicles.
- Physically capable of restraining youth if necessary, performing various maintenance tasks, and sitting/standing for long periods of time.
