Summary
The Methodist Foundation of Mississippi exists to provide investment and stewardship services to the Methodist and related churches in the state of Mississippi. Our Customer Service Representative coordinates all activities to promote relationship between our current and future account holders including maintaining regular contact through various methods, promoting new relationships and facilitating needs of account holders.
The position will be located at our offices in the Ridgeland, MS area.
This position reports to the Associate Director & CFO working closely with our full team.
Essential Functions
- A demonstrated commitment to Christian service along with knowledge of the structure, theology, and practices of The Methodist Church.
- Maintain and develop relationships with key Finance members within Methodist churches across the state.
- Assist to maintain client account records and other accounting records as needed
- Strong customer service and relationship building in all contexts.
- Attention to Detail and Industriousness—the will to work and the desire for the accomplishment of goals.
- Neat personal appearance and articulate in communication.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and develop relationships with key Finance members within Methodist congregations across the state of Mississippi to encourage their investment through the Foundation.
- Coordinate through our software a complete database of account contacts within the Churches and related organizations.
- Maintain a system of regular contact with each account holder and potential account holder.
- Assist to prepare presentations and account reviews for church accounts.
- Assist to maintain account transactions, balances and reporting.
- Process gift acknowledgement communications for all gifts received.
- Send regular communication regarding account balances and activity.
- Process deposit and withdrawal requests from account holders.
- Assist with answering office phones and greeting office visitors.
- Other administrative tasks as assigned.
Education and Experience
Associates Degree or higher and/or experience in administrative tasks similar to the duties of the role. A working understanding of accounting transactions and reporting would be beneficial..
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Understand and use the English language both written and oral to communicate information or ideas.
2. Understand accounting transactions, financial statements and reporting.
3. Possess basic computer skills; use basic Microsoft Office products – Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint; create, enter, retrieve and print from current software packages.
4. Ability to learn new software and work within the system to accomplish necessary tasks. For example, this position will learn our account database software to carry out its function.
5. Knowledge of basic accounting, excel, finance and presentation preparation skills a plus.
6. Experience managing client relationships a plus.
7. Ability to build relationships quickly and effectively through strong customer service skills and friendliness in phone and personal communication.
8. Attention to detail.
9. Ability to take initiative, plan and coordinate various activities, and be organized.

This position is 40 hours per week according to the office hours of the Foundation.
