What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Pharmacy Manager position at Methodist Healthcare System?
As the Pharmacy Clinical Manager, you will design, implement, and manage the pharmacy clinical programs. This includes formulary management, policy and procedure development and education across the healthcare spectrum. You shall also assist in managing the pharmacy when the Pharmacy Director or designee is unavailable.
What you will do in this role:
- Interpret orders and transcribe or verify them accurately and efficiently into the pharmacy computer system.
- Accurately compound and dispense pharmaceuticals.
- Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies and appropriateness of drug and dose.
- Sustain the hospital formulary, minimizing non-formulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic interchanges and promoting rational drug therapy selection.
- Identify, design and analyze drug utilization reviews to promote rational drug therapy and determine an action plan based on results.
- Develop, manage and mentor pharmacy clinical programs such as drug consults, nutrition support, pharmacokinetics, anticoagulant monitoring, pain management, IV to PO, renal dosing and other programs.
- Develop, manage and mentor for the antimicrobial management program (AMP).
- Manage and monitor the drug formulary.
- Develop, implement, and monitor pharmacy clinical initiatives and share pharmacy operation responsibility with the Pharmacy Operation Manager.
What qualifications you will need:
- B.S. or Pharm D. from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy is required.
- Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy is preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year as a Pharmacy Clinical/Operations Specialist required.
- 5 years of hospital pharmacy experience, preferably within area of focus required
- Completion of a hospital PGY2/ pharmacy specialty residency or fellowship Preferred
- Specialty BCPS certification is preferred.
- Other certification (e.g. FCCP, FASHP) is also preferred.
- Hospital Pharmacy Management experience Preferred.
- Experience performing basic mathematical calculations, balance and reconciliation of figures is required.
- Experience working in Microsoft Office, Meditech, Business Objects and purchasing vendor applications is required.
- ACLS certification Preferred
- Active Pharmacist license in good standing with the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy Required
- Active Pharmacy Consultant license, or equivalent as per State requirements for a Pharmacy Required
