Teacher- Winston-Salem Juvenile Assessment & Crisis Center
About Us:
Methodist Home for Children, in partnership with the Department of Public Safety, operates a juvenile assessment and crisis center aimed at providing comprehensive assessment services in a residential setting. Our mission is to match youth with the most appropriate services in their communities. Situated in Winston-Salem, NC, our center serves approximately twelve Level II offenders between the ages of 10 and 17 at a time, with youth residing in the facility for two to six weeks.
Job Description:
Are you passionate about shaping young minds and making a difference in the lives of at-risk youth? We're seeking an experienced Teacher to join our team and work with the youth in our residential program. As a Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing educational support and fostering academic growth within our unique environment.
Responsibilities:
Design and implement a highly flexible and innovative classroom curriculum tailored to meet the diverse needs of each juvenile resident.
Utilize both traditional and computerized learning materials to engage students and enhance their learning experience.
Prepare detailed lesson plans and maintain accurate records of attendance and classroom performance, including social and academic progress.
Collaborate closely with staff to develop individualized treatment plans that integrate academic goals into the residential care program.
Provide official transcripts documenting the academic progress of each resident during their stay.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
Minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience, preferably at the middle and/or high school level.
Valid teaching certification as specified by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (highly preferred).
