Methodist Home for Children is seeking Youth Care Worker for its Transitional Living Home in New Bern, NC.

Salary : $15.00 depending on education and experience.

FIRST THINGS FIRST... WHAT IS A TRANSITIONAL LIVING HOME?

These group homes serve teens who are on probation but cannot return home safely from a youth development center or other residential placement. Referred by juvenile court counselors, they stay for six to 12 months, working to finish school, identify career goals, get a job, volunteer, earn a driver’s license, and learn to budget, cook and manage bills.

WHAT DO DIRECT SUPPORT STAFF DO?

The primary responsibility of Youth Care Worker is to provide program services to intervene with adolescents being served in the residential group home. Key responsibilities include :

Implementing direct treatment services through use of the agency's model of care.
Providing residential care services.
Working with adolescents, families, volunteers, and community representatives in the youth home and community settings.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.

Minimum of a High School Diploma and experience working with youth ages 11-20.

Must maintain a valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended periods of time.

BENEFITS :

Paid Holidays : MHC gives full-time employees paid holidays each year.

Vacation Leave : First partial calendar year of hire is pro-rated at 10 days (80 hours) per year.

Sick Leave : Paid sick leave is accumulated at 12 days (96 hours) per calendar year. All unused sick leave will carry over into the next calendar year.

Health Benefits : Employees may choose between the BCBS Medical Base HSA Plan or Medical Buy-Up HSA Plan. Dental and Vision plans are also available.

Health Care Flex Plan : Employees can utilize the optional Health Care Flexible Spending Account (HSA) tax-free reimbursement program for out-of-pocket medical, dental, and vision expenses for themselves and their dependents.

Dependent Care Flex Plan : Employees can utilize the optional Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) tax-free reimbursement program for their eligible dependent care expenses.

Life Insurance : Term life insurance is provided by MHC for full-time staff in the amount of $75,000. Supplemental life insurance is available for individual or family coverage.

Workers’ Compensation : This agency-paid benefit covers on-the-job injury.

403B Plan : Employees can contribute to a tax-deferred annuity plan; MHC matches a portion of the contributed funds.

Credit Union : All employees are offered membership to the Coastal Credit Union (CCU).

Employee Assistance Program : This agency-paid benefit provides easy access to confidential, professional counseling for employees and their families.
