The Pharmacy Automation Analyst is responsible for providing information system support, database management, and technical troubleshooting for pharmacy automated systems at Methodist Healthcare. Coordinates the development, implementation and management of automation and technology that impacts the Department of Pharmacy and the medication use process. A Brief Overview
The Pharmacy Automation Analyst is responsible for providing information system support, database management, and technical troubleshooting for pharmacy automated systems at Methodist Healthcare. Coordinates the development, implementation and management of automation and technology that impacts the Department of Pharmacy and the medication use process. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.
What you will do
- Coordinates and supports implementation, integration, and maintenance of pharmacy automation and technology to optimize medication use processes.
- Configures, maintains, troubleshoots, and supports a variety of automated technologies such as automated dispensing cabinets, medication carousels, and narcotic systems to enhance the safety and quality of pharmaceutical care provided.
- Promotes effective communication concerning pharmacy automation applications.
- Develops, conducts, and/or coordinates training programs on appropriate use of information technology for clinical departments, medical staff, and others as required.
- Follows established procedures for medication safety, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, compliance activities, and policies and procedures.

Work Experience Requirements
- 3-5 years Pharmacy (clinical, hospital, outpatient, or specialty)
Licenses and Certifications Requirements
- Certified Pharmacy Technician - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or
- Certified Pharmacy Technician- National Healthcareer Association required
- Pharmacy Technician - Mississippi - Mississippi Board of Pharmacy
- Pharmacy Technician - Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Pharmacy
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must have demonstrated knowledge of the overall workflow of the pharmacy department.
- Experience with automated workflow redesign and process improvement associated with automated and/or patient care systems required.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and to consistently exercise sound judgment and initiative in a wide range of circumstances.
- Demonstrates the ability to operate pharmacy automated devices.
- Ability to read, comprehend and prepare moderately complex written materials such as software documentation.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing information management concepts and methods to non-technical users.
- Ability to understand the relationship between multiple pharmacy databases and the impact each component has on the operating workflow.
- Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office required.
- Demonstrated success in the mentoring, coaching and teaching of others.
- Demonstrated success in facilitating and leading teams and projects.
Supervision Provided by this Position
- There are no lead responsibilities assigned to the job.
Physical Demands
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
