What You Will Do
- Collaborates with facility leadership and frontline associates to ensure associate schedules are published and updated according to department requirements.
- Promotes effective communication concerning all scheduling, staffing and payroll applications.
- Ensures scheduling and payroll related activities are performed consistently and in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates successful partnerships with facility leaders and frontline associates to balance unplanned schedule changes.
- Leads daily staffing plans for all areas of coverage responsibilities.
- Provides timekeeping oversight while ensuring compliance to scheduling guidelines and pay rules.
- Ensures schedule and staffing department deadlines are met.
- Leads daily shift huddles promoting clear direction and effective communication with team members.
- Coaches and mentors associates while ensuring consistent, unbiased support.
- Gathers, prepares and continuously updates schedule, staffing and timekeeping data.
- Generates staffing reports at the request of leader.
- Assists Director in special projects.
- Fulfills job responsibilities of schedulers and staffing coordinators in their absence.
- Performs other job functions as assigned.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Technical Degree or Diploma
- Associate's Degree
- 1-3 years Healthcare
- Proficient knowledge of the business structure of clinical areas, nursing staffing structure, and staffing office operations.
- Proficient Knowledge of hospital staffing/scheduling policies and procedures.
- Ability to determine appropriate course of action in complex situations and guide colleagues to optimal resolution.
- Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of own and others' work flow.
- Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks within deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact well with leaders and staff.
- Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel) as indicated in the specific function within the department.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
- Supervises schedulers and staffing coordinators.
- Infrequent travel outside hospital.
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
- The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work
