Reports to: Director of Transfer Student Services
Status: Full-time
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Director of Transfer Student Services, the Transfer Student Services Specialist will work closely with the Office of the Registrar, MU Online, Admissions Office, Academic Advising/One-stop, and the faculty to ensure the timely and accurate articulation and evaluation of transfer credit to individual student records. This includes the maintenance of course to course equivalency data in both the student information system (SIS) and the Transfer Evaluation System (TES). In addition, The Transfer Student Services Specialist serves as a point of contact for prospective transfer students who are seeking an understanding of the transfer credit process as well as length of time and cost to degree completion. The Transfer Student Services Specialist hires, trains, and oversees one student worker.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Transfer credit evaluation – 50%
- Interpret and enforce academic policy as pertains to the evaluation of transfer credit
- Process incoming transcripts and other academic records to determine acceptance of credit and applicability towards degree requirements
- Data enter transfer credit onto individual student records in the SIS
- Transfer credit articulation – 20%
- Manage the course-to-course articulation workflow including running reports, assigning courses needing review, and gathering syllabi as needed for equivalency review
- Perform data entry into the SIS and Transfer Evaluation System (TES) systems
- Keep current on curricular changes both internally and externally; update articulations and transfer tools appropriately
- Perform routine data audits of equivalency databases to ensure accuracy
- Support the Director of Transfer Student Services in developing and maintaining transfer guides and articulation agreements with key partner institutions
- Prospective transfer student advising/recruitment/onboarding – 20%
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of transfer guides and other transfer advising tools as assigned
- Participate in transfer outreach/orientation events as needed
- Communicate via phone or email to respond to prospective transfer student inquiries
- Assist in the management of outgoing transfer recruitment campaigns
- Meet one on one with prospective transfer students who are seeking to understand the transfer process to Methodist University
- Make appropriate referrals to other student services professionals as needed
- Supervision and Training – 10%
- Hire, train, and oversee one student worker to assist with projects
- Provide an annual evaluation for the student worker
- Ensure a high level of accuracy through quality control mechanisms
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of successful experience in academic advising, registrar, admissions or related area in a higher education setting
