Civil Lead

The Civil Lead is responsible for working with the Foreman to manage the trades team on all project objectives including overseeing budget and labor hours tracking, controlling production rates, applying, and enforcing all safety regulations and policies, proactively plan work schedules and ensuring the proper tools, materials, and direction are managed and distributed. This position reports to the Foreman and is not responsible for the oversight of other teammates. This is a full-time, hourly non-exempt position.

Your Role

• Responsible for enforcement of safety standards with own crew and others on worksite
• Lead Daily Activity Plan meetings
• Review daily production goals with supervisor and communicate those goals to the trades teammates. Monitor progress against those goals and communicate results to supervisor.
• Read and interpret drawings and specifications
• Provide accurate layout for line and grade, from established benchmarks
• Lead the execution of deep excavations requiring the use of trench boxes and other earth support systems
• Lead the use of basic groundwater dewatering systems, to support excavation/utility work
• Lead the planning, layout, and execution of excavation, backfill, and installation of underground piping/utilities (ductile iron piping, PVC piping, HDPE piping, reinforced concrete piping, precast structures, duct banks) and building elements.
• This position is hands-on, working as a member of the production crew.

Your Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of five years of industrial or water/wastewater construction experience
• Current licenses applicable to the trade
• Proven success in the construction industry
• Experience with project scheduling highly preferred

What You Bring to the Team

• Attention to detail and an ability to reduce complex product offerings and communicate them effectively
• Must possess or be able to obtain OSHA 30 Card
• Extensive knowledge of construction equipment and safety industry standards
• Excellent mechanical skills
• Must have an extensive knowledge of wastewater equipment and piping and have scheduling abilities
• Background experience in concrete and civil work related to industrial settings and water/wastewater treatment plants
• Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and project blueprints
• Self-motivated with strong work ethic
• Track record of exceptional leadership skills
• Ability to work in and build an effective team environment
• Ability to interact and communicate professionally with all parties associated with projects, including subcontractors and clients
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to manage conflict
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel

Work Environment/Physical Demands

• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time, and safely maneuver around the nearby presence of various construction equipment and vehicles, on an active construction site
• Prepared to regularly encounter moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and a variety of outside weather conditions
• Able to climb temporary or permanent stairs, and ladders
• Able to bend, squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, balance, and stoop, reach on a regular basis
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Travel

Travel is primarily local, and limited to Northeast jobsite locations, during the business day; with occasional out of state and overnight travel. Less than 20% travel expected.
