Job Title : Director of Musical Job Summary : The Director of Musical is responsible for overseeing the preparation, direction, and execution of the school's musical theater production. This includes coordinating auditions, rehearsals, and performances, as well as working closely with students, staff, and volunteers to ensure a successful production. The Director ensures that all aspects of the musical, including acting, singing, dancing, and technical elements, are executed to a high standard. Key Responsibilities : Production Planning and Management : Select and secure the musical to be produced. Create a production timeline, including audition dates, rehearsal schedules, and performance dates. Oversee the development of set design, costume design, and any other technical aspects in collaboration with other staff members. Auditions and Casting : Organize and conduct auditions for the cast, considering both vocal and acting abilities. Cast roles based on students' talents, ensuring an appropriate fit for the production. Rehearsals : Lead rehearsals for the cast, focusing on musical numbers, blocking, and character development. Work with the music director to integrate music, dance, and acting. Provide feedback and guidance to students to help them improve their performance skills. Performance Oversight : Oversee the final performances, ensuring that all students are prepared and confident in their roles. Provide leadership and support during dress rehearsals and actual performances. Budget and Resources : Work within the assigned budget to purchase necessary materials (scripts, costumes, props, etc.). Ensure the proper use and care of musical equipment, props, and costumes. Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in theater, music, education, or related field (preferred). Experience in musical theater direction, including prior work with school or community theater productions. Strong understanding of musical performance, including acting, singing, and choreography. Ability to work with students of varying abilities and create an inclusive and supportive environment. Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
