What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facility Operation Internship position at MetLife Stadium?
MetLife Stadium, home to the NY Giants and NY Jets has an opportunity for a currently enrolled college junior or senior to intern at MetLife Stadium this summer in our Facility Operations Department. Our internships are unpaid, selected students are scheduled 2 days per week plus events, from May to August. This internship will allow the student to be fully immersed in the day-to-day operations of the Facility Operations department. Students will l will observe, learn and participate in the “behind the scenes” labor that is required for a Stadium with (2) NFL teams, numerous concerts, soccer and family type events. Due to the unique Stadium schedule the facilities intern would be required to attend events in the evening, weekends and often holidays. A work schedule will be communicated with the intern at least one week in advance. This internship provides a unique perspective as to the “back of the house” requirements that are in place. The interns will work closely with Facility Operations staff and other departments throughout the organization.

- Shadowing the Facility Operations staff in pre- and post- event setup and breakdown
- Follow Facility Operations staff during event days to learn what is needed to execute a successful event.
- Identify and understand the roles that the unionized employees are responsible for including laborers, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, operating engineers, etc.
- Learn and understand the necessity of OSHA requirements and the safety of our work force. \
- Learn and be able to explain what is required of the Facility Operations staff to put on events while also ensuring building maintenance is completed.
- Follow and assist Facility Operations Associates with ongoing responsibilities including surveys, inspections and inventory.
- Shadow Facility Operations staff while checking in on stadium vendors/contractors.
- Assist Facility Operations Associates with the organization of various files and maintenance of records.
Eligibility
Must be currently enrolled in an Undergraduate program (Junior/Senior as of September 2025) or Post-Graduate program
Skill Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Organized and able to multitask
- Work with others in a professional manner while attempting to achieve a common goal
Schedule:
Due to the unique Stadium schedule the event operations intern would be required to attend events in the evening, weekends and often holidays.
