Capability Unit
Metrea Strategic Mobility (MSM) operates a fleet of KC-135 aircraft, offering an air-to-air refueling service that seamlessly, safely, and professionally integrates into military aviation training and operations.
Position Summary
The chief inspector role is mandated by FAA but may be completed by an appropriate certifier in EASA/UK. The Chief Inspector reports directly to the Head of MSM and ensures the maintenance and inspection program of the aircraft maintenance team meets all regulatory requirements.
Role and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor the inspection program to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and manufacturers' specifications.
- Ensure proper execution of major repairs or alterations and initiate necessary changes in the maintenance inspection program.
- Gather and record data to monitor the performance and reliability of aircraft, components, accessories, and appliances.
- Maintain current status documents, logbook entries, technical information, and ensure that appropriate entries are made in permanent maintenance records.
- Ensure calibration records for precision tools and test equipment are up to date and that calibrated tools are used as appropriate ensuring compliance to requirements.
- Supervise and direct personnel assigned to quality control, including those delegated inspection functions.
Skills and Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Experience:
- At least 3 years of maintenance experience on different types of large aircraft with 10 or more passenger seats with an air carrier or certificated repair station.
- At least 1 year experience in a dedicated Quality Inspection role with demonstrated experience in both line maintenance inspection and quality management systems.
- At least 1 year experience in developing and deploying an FAA/EASA compliant quality management system and aircraft maintenance and inspection program and developing and implementing an operational compliance auditing strategy specific to the mission set and parameters of the file.
- At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory capacity maintaining the same category and class of aircraft as the certificate holder users.
Skills:
- Must be able to manage a heavy workload and prioritize.
- Must maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a focus on collaboration.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Computer Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Certifications:
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Current US Passport.
- Hold a mechanic certificate (A&P), and have held these ratings for at least 3 years

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs. Exempt Employees must have the ability to be on-call and available, as business needs require. Non-Exempt employees may be required to work over 40 hours per week with approval from the department manager.
