Position Summary
The Junior Commodity Specialist will deeply understand the market for his/her respective commodities and assist in the procurement and management of critical commodities and materials essential to Metrea’s operational and production functions. This role will involve sourcing and acquiring materials, components, supplies and services ensuring alignment with company policies, Department of Defense contract requirements, and federal acquisition regulations. The successful candidate in this role will proactively manage suppliers and is responsible for working with vendors to reduce lead-times, establish terms, and manage costs. This role will have a keen understanding of the market for the commodities being sourced, make informed decisions, and will anticipate the demands from the end-use customer
Essential Functions and Competency Statements
- Execute the procurement process from requisition to purchase order delivery to Metrea’s aircraft.
- Proactively manage vendors and support strategic sourcing efforts through supplier management and risk mitigation management approaches.
- Provide critical AOG material support as needed to ensure timely operations.
- Responsible for reviewing technical publications and documentation to research and identify the necessary aircraft components and parts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Quality, Finance, and other departments.
- Bild and maintain strong relationships with key partners, including suppliers and customers.
- Assess suppliers’ capabilities, performance, and pricing to ensure alignment with company requirements.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and contract agreements with suppliers.
- Analyze purchasing data and trends to identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements.
- Prepare and present regular reports for management, highlighting key metrics and insights.
- Resolve procurement discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Ensure effective follow-up and administration of purchase order and subcontract files.
- Engage in supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality, cost, and delivery standards.
- Conduct research on new components and suppliers to enhance procurement strategies.
- Make informed procurement decisions, take initiative and effectively communicate with both internal and external stakeholders

Required Education, Experience and Certificates
Education: High School Diploma/GED.
Experience: 3-5 years of Procurement or Strategic Sourcing experience in aviation with a history of negotiating vendor pricing and managing vendors.
Certificates and Licenses: Valid Drivers Licenses
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Experience:
Previous experience procuring aviation parts and materials with a Part 121 or Part 135 airline.
Supervisory Responsibility
This role has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
This is a largely sedentary role; however, some physical abilities may be required.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs. Exempt Employees must have the ability to be on-call and available, as business needs require.
Facility Location:
Metrea Management – Remote role with the ability to travel to office locations in Temecula, CA, Tampa, FL, Oklahoma City, OK, or other facilities as is necessary.
Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel may be required (Less than 10%).
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Must be able to accomplish all duties with little or no assistance.
Must have good command of the English language; oral and written.
