What are the responsibilities and job description for the ITS Project Team Manager position at Metric Engineering?
Metric Engineering is looking for an Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Project Team Manager to complete system planning, engineering analysis and design tasks within our ITS department. This role will include providing engineering support for construction, operation and maintenance of ITS/Traffic related projects and system deployments. Additionally, the ITS Project Team Manager will lead design teams to design plans and engineering reports to accomplish project scopes and goals, support the ITS Production Manager in managing the team, and support clients in planning and executing contracts and projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the ITS or traffic operations field and experience with information and communication technologies including fiber optic, detection, traveler information, power design, electronic payment, traffic control systems and project management tools.
Day-to-Day:
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to develop project schedules, budgets and project plans to accomplish project goals and objectives
- Supervises team members and Perform Quality Assurance on assigned projects and tasks, coordinating with clients to ensure all project obligations are met and clients are satisfied
- Develop scopes and fee estimates for project tasks
- Review, interpret, comment and provide technical guidance on production plans for ITS and traffic engineering projects
- Apply general ITS and Tolls engineering and planning principles to solve specific ITS and Toll related problems
- Responsible for compliance to FDOT specifications and company requirements ensuring all work activities are completed on time and within budget
- Coordinates the scheduling of projects and tasks
- Coordinates with client to ensure all client needs are met
- Participates in marketing efforts, proposal write ups, project interviews, and Q&A sessions
- Prepares bid documents with fee estimates for marketing efforts
- Negotiates units and staff hours during client negotiations
- Performs post design duties and shop drawing reviews
- Oversees projects through completion of construction/integration and final acceptance
- Communicates department needs with administrative staff
- Coordinates with executive level staff regarding the direction of the department
- Coordinates with managers of different departments to ensure all tasks from other disciplines required for projects are done in a timely manner
What you should bring:
- BA in Engineering
- Florida Professional Engineering License
- 7 years of related experience
- IMSA Level II
- Advanced MOT
- Full comprehension of the Florida Department of Transportation policies, specifications and variety of ITS and traffic field concepts, practices and procedures
- Expertise in ITS/Traffic engineering planning, design and analysis
- Marketing support and client management skills
- Project management and team management skills
- Technical writing skills
