What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Controller / Scheduler position at Metric Geo?
We are partnered with an Owner's Rep seeking a highly skilled Project Cost Controller/Scheduler to support a major pharmaceutical campus project in Indianapolis, IN. This role will be responsible for cost management, scheduling, and project controls to ensure the project stays within budget and on schedule. The ideal candidate will have experience in large-scale pharma, life sciences, or industrial construction projects and a strong background in cost forecasting, scheduling, and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Control & Financial Management
- Develop and maintain project cost reports, tracking committed costs, actual expenditures, and forecasting.
- Ensure accurate budgeting, cost tracking, and change management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with project managers and stakeholders to monitor financial performance and recommend corrective actions.
- Analyze cost trends and identify potential risks to budget and schedule compliance.
Project Scheduling & Planning
- Develop and manage a detailed project schedule using Primavera P6 or other scheduling tools.
- Track and update schedule progress, milestones, and critical path activities.
- Identify and communicate potential schedule risks and delays, working proactively with the project team to mitigate issues.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure timely completion of project phases.
Reporting & Communication
- Prepare and present regular cost and schedule reports for senior leadership and project stakeholders.
- Ensure transparency in financial tracking and project progress through clear documentation and reporting.
- Support contract administration by validating invoices, purchase orders, and payment applications against project budgets.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5 years of experience in cost control and scheduling for large capital projects, preferably in pharma, life sciences, or industrial construction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
- Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and cost management tools (e.g., Procore, SAP, or similar).
- Strong analytical skills with experience in earned value management (EVM), forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with Owner’s Representative project delivery models and stakeholder coordination.
- Ability to work on-site in Indianapolis, IN.
