Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to oversee and implement safety programs for a top General Contractor with commercial and multi-family construction projects. This role is located in Savannah, GA. A Safety Manager must ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and industry best practices to create a secure work environment for all employees, subcontractors, and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction safety, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to risk mitigation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Program Implementation: Develop, implement, and enforce company safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Site Inspections & Audits: Conduct regular site safety inspections to identify hazards, ensure compliance with OSHA standards, and recommend corrective actions.
- Incident Investigation & Reporting: Lead investigations for accidents, near-misses, and safety violations, providing detailed reports and recommendations for prevention.
- Compliance Monitoring: Ensure all job sites comply with federal, state, and local safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements.
- Training & Education: Conduct safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and orientations for employees and subcontractors.
- Emergency Preparedness: Develop and oversee emergency response plans, first aid programs, and crisis management protocols.
- PPE & Equipment Management: Ensure the proper use and availability of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety gear.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
- Certifications: OSHA 30 or OSHA 500 certification required; First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
- Experience: 5 years of safety management experience in commercial or multi-family construction.
- Knowledge of Safety Regulations: Strong understanding of OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, and other relevant safety standards.
