Summary :
We are seeking a Senior Distribution Engineer to design and review overhead and underground distribution lines from 4 kV to 69 kV within the Distribution Department. This role involves leading the development of work packages for URD, re-conductoring, asset replacement, and underground cable / conduit projects. The Senior Engineer will act as a technical leader, ensuring compliance with client standards and codes, coordinating project teams, and mentoring junior staff.
About the Role :
Hybrid - 3 days in office.
The Senior Engineer will use advanced engineering practices to execute complex distribution design projects in urban and rural environments. Responsibilities include designing and reviewing overhead and underground distribution systems, identifying conflicting utilities, performing engineering calculations, and creating work permit documents. The engineer will also support construction activities, provide training, ensure compliance with client quality standards, and participate in field testing and community outreach as needed.
The role involves coordinating small design teams, developing budgets, preparing scoping documents, and delivering engineering solutions that meet client requirements. The engineer will also interpret regulations, develop construction standards, and lead the resolution of project challenges.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- PE License required
- Minimum 8 years of experience with electric utility distribution design projects
- Expertise in overhead, URD, re-conductoring, and asset replacement projects
- Advanced knowledge of electrical distribution system design standards, including NESC and regulatory codes
