The successful candidate must possess the ability to multitask and maintain a pleasant and professional demeanor when communicating with colleagues, vendors, and the public. He or she must have the capacity to be a self-starter, work independently, manage projects, and be a team player. This position requires uncompromising confidentiality with information regarding Metro and its employees as well as skills in Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, and in writing professional correspondence. The successful candidate will pass a set of skills testing including, but not limited to, computer efficiency.
General Responsibilities
Serve as the assistant bookkeeper for the agency
Assist Finance Administrator and Finance Team Members with the preparation of monthly financial statements and all related components, including but not limited to
- Account reconciliations on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
- Payroll processing and related functions
- Accounts payable functions
- Quarterend and yearend bookkeeping
- Fixed asset depreciation schedule maintenance
- Purchasing functions
Back up the Office Administrator for office duties
- Professionally answer administrative phone lines and greet and assist visitors
- Process mail
- Prepare schedules and reports to assist various team members
- Maintain inventory and order supplies for the agency
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment
- Perform other administrative duties as necessary
- Uphold established policies and procedures
- Effectively and timely communicate verbally and electronically inside and outside the agency
- Maintain organization while working towards meeting multiple short-term and long-term deadlines independently and collaboratively
- Other finance-related duties and also other general duties as needed by the team
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The successful candidate will possess
Ability to
- understand and effectively carry out complex oral and written directions
- handle and maintain confidential or sensitive information
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers
- Provide quality work product, including checking own work prior to presenting to other team members
- Exemplary skills in grammar, spelling, and best business practices
- Knowledge of general office methods, practices, and control procedures
- Skills in the creation or editing of all documents created with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, and Word
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent, with preference given to an otherwise desirable candidate holding a degree in a business-related field
Experience: Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in performing bookkeeping-type work.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Pre-employment drug testing and background check
- Ability to work 8-5:00, Monday through Friday with some mandatory overtime as determined by supervisor to fulfill job obligations
