Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of in vivo scientists working on skeletal disease research.
- Define and oversee annual objectives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Manage resource allocation, project priorities, and team performance evaluations.
In Vivo Study Management & Execution
- Design, implement, and oversee in vivo studies, including model selection, study execution, and data analysis.
- Work with CROs and internal stakeholders to manage sample handling and ensure study integrity.
- Conduct hands-on in vivo procedures, including IM, IV, SC, PO dosing, imaging techniques, and rodent surgeries.
Compliance & Technical Expertise
- Maintain rigorous adherence to safety protocols and federal animal care regulations.
- Oversee documentation in Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN) to ensure data accuracy.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and staffing to optimize efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with internal teams, external collaborators, and regulatory bodies to advance MSK therapeutic research.
- Present study findings to senior leadership and contribute to regulatory documentation.
- Foster clear and transparent communication to align research with organizational objectives.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- PhD in a relevant field with significant skeletal biology research experience.
- 7 years of postdoctoral or industry experience in skeletal biology or skeletal disease research.
- Expertise in genetically modified rodent models (e.g., CRISPR, Cre-lox, Tet-on systems).
Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with rodent imaging, surgical techniques, and in vivo dosing.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools, tissue processing, and sample collection.
- Strong understanding of gene therapy, genetically engineered models, and molecular mechanisms of skeletal diseases.
Leadership & Compliance
- Proven leadership skills in managing and mentoring research teams.
- Familiarity with federal regulations governing animal care and research protocols.
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
