Position Overview
The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) will play a critical role in providing advanced, life-saving care to pediatric patients in a 26-bed specialized unit, which includes expertise in Cardio Thoracic and Burn cases. The position calls for a skilled professional with the ability to manage complex cases, perform advanced procedures, and contribute to research initiatives aimed at improving pediatric critical care.
Key Responsibilities
Advanced Patient Care
- Deliver comprehensive care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU.
- Develop and execute individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs.
Critical Procedures
- Perform life-saving procedures, including:
- Endotracheal intubation.
- Arterial and central venous line placement.
- Chest tube insertion.
- Procedural sedation.
- Spinal taps.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
- Work closely with a team of 7 attending physicians and 7 nurse practitioners to ensure round-the-clock coverage.
- Partner with an interdisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes and provide the highest quality of care.
On-Call Duties
- Take part in 6 on-call shifts per month, including three 25-hour weekend shifts monthly.
Research & Education
- Participate in research initiatives aimed at advancing pediatric critical care practices.
- Support educational programs within the unit to train and mentor staff.
Qualifications
Education
- Master’s Degree in Nursing.
Experience
- Previous experience in critical care or intensive care is required.
Licensure
- Active PA Registered Nurse License.
- Certified PA Nurse Practitioner License.
